Ever since Leena was born, I’ve been obsessed with fitting into my former “skinny” jeans, but today, I finally gave myself permission to buy some new ones.
I feel so confident and excited about my “traveler-wash power ultra-skinny jeans” from Guess— scored on sale! I asked Drex to take pictures, so that I could see myself and celebrate: my body after two kids!
My hips are wider, my figure is fuller— but I don’t think I’ve ever looked or felt so fantastic (except maybe during my wedding weekend).
In fact, I love my new jeans so much I wrote an ode.*
ODE TO MY NEW SKINNY JEANS IN A BIGGER SIZE
Be there any greater joy
than finding treasured, well-cut jeans?
What if, oh bliss of bliss, it trims
the waist and hugs the hips and
makes the legs seem long and lean?
O perfect jeans, I feel alive
and love the body that I’m in—
When I wear you I am fierce,
And if I play, I play to win.
* English majors will not consider this an ode or anything close to an ode, but I did write it in iambic pentameter, which should count for something.

You look great in those jeans!
