Samples of Marker Drawings by Sonya

This is “Mommy thinking ’bout a rocket ship.” This morning, we spent a few minutes learning about Sally Ride, the first American woman to enter space in 1983, the year after I was born. This was TWENTY years after the FIRST woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova, spent three days circling the earth in 1963 aboard the Vostok 6.

This is Daddy teaching Sonya about something. Notice Sonya is upside down. That’s the kind of metaphysical feeling I get when Drex tells me about one of his groundbreaking computer science ideas, too.

This is Sonya giving a hug to Texas. That line coming out of the top corner is Texas hugging back.

Finally, Sonya and I’ve been working on a special birthday letter for her Greatgrandpa Ruths, who’s turning NINETY next month! We looked at pictures of Greatgrandpa, and Sonya was immediately impressed by his white hair (represented here in a fuchsia color called raspberry squirt).
