Blueberry Picking

Posted July 12th, 2012 in Uncategorized by Mitsy

It was really hot, but our whole little family went to La Ferme Quinn with Molly Ann to get fresh blueberries for Sonya’s birthday cake. The girls did a great job tweezing the ripe blueberries off the bushes. Sonya carried the cardboard panier, even as it got fuller and heavier. We were impressed.

“I’ve got strong muscles,” Sonya said— and we all agreed.

We have a lot of locally grown hand-picked blueberries now, but I think they’ll get eaten quickly. Especially since we’ll have guests to share the bounty.

I keep meaning to find a you-pick farm out here but it hasn’t happened yet. I’ve also seen how quickly fresh fruit disappears and I’m not sure it would make it into our basket!

Is it decently priced to pick at Quinn? How long is it in season for? Do you know?

Robyn, I thought the price at Quinn was very reasonable. $2 per adult and $12-15 for that big cardboard basket of blueberries (and you could really overfill it if you wanted!) I’m not sure how long the season is this year; the bushes still looked full when we went, but definitely plan on going sooner than later!
