The Toy Pit

Posted November 18th, 2010 in adventures and tagged , , by Mitsy

It’s like a Chuck E. Cheese ball pit of stuffed animals and plushie toys.

This playard, previously used as a Punishment Box after Major Offenses (like biting or hitting), has been transformed into a toy vault, which somewhat reminds me of the Scrooge McDuck money pit. Sonya takes her daily swim in consumerism and overabundance.

We play a game where we toss objects in and out of The Pit. A heartwarming observation: Sonya really seems to favorĀ the soccer ball I made for her. It’s getting a bit misshapen from all the handling, so I think I might need to open a seam and stuff it more.

That looks like fun! And I can assure you it is much cleaner than the ball pit at Chuck E. Cheese’s.

My daughter is 13 months old…and is into everything…she climbs all over our furniture…and just destroys everything…I can’t do anything around the house while she’s awake…and I love to sew and make crafts…and my craft room is the room she destroys the most…my Aunt was suggesting I put her in a play pen while I’m trying to craft/sew for about an hour…I’m definitely going to try…and maybe the “toy vault” will work good for her, and allow me to do a few things I enjoy in a day.

Natasha, I hope this strategy works for you! Maybe you could set up the play pen right next to where you’re crafting? The toddler age is tricky, because my daughter wants to learn from me, copy everything I do. If I’m using scissors, for example, that’s what she wants. Lately, I’ve been trying to make the most of daily nap time and do housework while she’s awake. Also, just checked out your lovely blog. :)
