Molly Ann

Posted August 22nd, 2012 in Uncategorized by Mitsy

For whatever reason, I’ve been feeling inspired to write poetry again—my attempt at stilted rhyme verse inspired by Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, and e.e. cummings. My poet heroes.

A friend is a friend is a friend
to hold an umbrella in the rain
to splash in the mud when it stops
to pass the time till it’s sunny again
with long long walks and heartfelt talks.
A friend is a friend is a friend.

Molly Ann agreed to be my subject last night. I tried to capture her strength and beauty in these portraits. She has such fair skin framed by wavy dark brown hair— very striking. By the way, she also KNIT the gorgeous Fair Isle cardigan she’s wearing. (Envy!)

I discovered that I really like the stone wall running along Duluth, surrounding Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal, one of North America’s oldest hospitals— founded in 1645. The wall has texture and history. And it’s right outside my front door.
